We are so busy looking for a job online that we tend to disregard simple matters that may affect our online job application and personal lives as well.

Posting resume with all important details. You may limit the information to your name, address and contact details. No need to include passport no. or other confidential information. Also, no need to indicate employment details if you are currently employed. If someone is interested, they can contact you to send your full resume. Your employer might browse into the site and see your resume online. It would put your work in jeopardy.

Sending resume by email to multiple recipients at the same time. Employers may think that it is a spam mail and may be deleted immediately. Also, even if they are interested in you, they know that you have sent your application to so many companies that they won’t bother contacting you at all thinking you already have better offers.

Sending applications to jobs that you do not qualify for. Job search websites usually have an easy apply button where you can just click to send your resume. Do not bother sending your application if you do not meet the minimum requirements. Employers would think you did not understand the job vacancy.

Putting only email address as contact details. The response of the company might go to your bulk mail and you won’t have a chance to read it or sometimes email servers are down. Always include a contact no. preferably your mobile so when they contact you, they’re sure that you will be the one to answer the call.
