Better aggregate, better chances.

For those of you who are in search of a job, don’t settle for those small time job aggregates. The jobs that they offer are only limited.

Why not try recruit.net? This website (not really a website in that sense, but a blog), offers a different kind of service. The person can search for other job offerings using keywords and locations. He or she can enter a country in the search location box or maybe, be specific and search a job opening near/within his or her hometown.

Now, what really sets this website apart from the others? Aside from the fact that you could search with keywords and locations (not the typical drop down box wherein you’re constrained to those locations), the website also has the capability to search through the official websites of companies not enlisted, job boards, forums, agencies, newspapers and the like.

Handling rejection

It’s very difficult to find work these days. Despite all your efforts in clinching that position, you still find yourself rejected. You realize that jobs are pretty elusive. You have to understand that with so many applicants vying for one position, there is a very high possibility of someone being more qualified that you are.

Don’t be sad, if you receive a message of rejection. Here are some tips to help you dust off and try again.

Suppress that defeatist attitude. Think outside the box and keep your eyes open for other opportunities. Review those that you rejected and reconsider. Review your resume and your application letters. You might have missed something important or you may have to revise some parts. Better yet, ask a friend to review your resume for you. Ask for his or her opinion.

The National Science Foundation or the NSF is a government agency of the United States that promotes the welfare of science and engineering. This agency does research projects for the betterment of science, hoping to contribute to the database of scientific facts and pieces of information.

To maintain the quality of programs and career developments in their agency, they hold a biennial survey of those who have doctorate degrees. The survey is more of a random sampling: they survey physicists from all age groups who have doctorate degrees in science, engineering, health etc., all from American Universities. This survey acts as monitoring tool in which they could asses the current status of their development as an agency.

There are thousands of job aggregates on the internet, all of them promise to give people the chance to search online for available job postings online. But tell me the truth, do you have any idea if these job aggregates really are effective? Do you know what their success rate is when it comes to job searching?

There is another job aggregate available on the internet. They work like the usual job aggregate you know, however, they have this special feature on their website that sets them apart from others: they track their users’ queries and make it available online. As shown in their paragraph, Indeed.com’s success rate of matching the keywords of their users has been increasing.

Have the ‘X’ factor

21 February, 2009 (12:11) | Careers, Tips | By: editor

In these trying times, it always pays to have an extra ‘umph’ in your job searching activities. Employers are becoming more discriminating, and are looking for prospective employees who have a little something extra to offer.

One of the ways to get noticed more is through LinkedIn, an online professional networking site. It’s just like MySpace or Friendster, except that all the contacts you have are professional contacts. They in turn give you more access to part time jobs, full time work, and the like. And with LinkedIn’s recommendation feature, you can receive recommendations from former employers who liked your work for them.

Another thing is to have a good portfolio. Try to pick the best of your previous work and have them ready should anyone ask to see them. Employers who you can get interested in you will appreciate the extra references and samples you send them.

Multitasking with No Extra Pay

Employees will always be given their duties and responsibilities from day one. But while we hate to take on extra assignments, we are left with no choice at times. Complaining will get you nowhere. It remains that some duties are not enough to compensate your work with any company.

Multitasking is common in offices today. To save on additional manpower, additional petty jobs are assigned to personnel who can take on additional loads. To most it may seem unreasonable but given the chance, who would quit their job just because they are given additional tasks today. You just have to leave an open mind to it.

Well, seems people have begun to realize the need for a proper education which they may have foregone when they decided it was time to earn cash without finishing their degrees from continuing education to additional courses, laid off employees are going back to school.
May it be for higher pay or just for the sake of getting the piece of paper you call a diploma and your transcript of records, they are indeed studying. Online courses are getting more popular for it lessens the need to physically go to the college for their education. It’s also cheaper for schools and colleges for they don’t need classrooms, just computers and professors connected ot the internet and they’re on their way.
